J*D La Fleur de Lotus

The lotus flower has been depicted in art throughout the ages because of its strong symbolic tie to many Asian religions especially in India and Egypt.
Representing eternity, purity and divinity, the lotus is also widely used as a symbol of feminine beauty. It is no wonder that J*D decided to use the lotus flower to further expand its Hommage Paris 1785 collection.
When a small group of J*D enthusiasts visited La Chaux de Fonds last year we saw a picture similar to this one on the computer screen in the "product development" section:
We were told that it was a photo taken by Mr. Emch on one of his visits to Asia. The beauty of the flower captivated Mr. Emch and when he returned to Switzerland he asked the designers at Jaquet Droz to reinterpret the image as a special project for Basel. We were not shown the final pieces and were sworn to secrecy. Five months passed and the end result was a series of eight different dials each with a limited production of 8 pieces per model.
I think the watches are beautiful and I believe that these will appeal to a larger crowd than the "art-deco" design of the original La Fleur du Temps models released last year. The lotus flower design is hand engraved into a white gold pattern into the lacquered dial and then set with precious stones.

Personally I like the model with the white lacquer dial, the green tsavorites, pink sapphires, and diamonds. It is the most realistic interpretation of the original Lotus flower inspiration.
